Every time I’ve talked you earlier than, I all the time meant to ask concerning the look of Blur. Was that something Damon decided on before every album?

I don’t know what the modifications of look have been. I suppose it went from saggy, to mod, then again to saggy again, didn’t it?! (laughs). The thing is, we have been scruffy fuckers, really. I’ve been realising that lately, once I go to see teams now, they usually’re sporting actually nicwe suits and searching stylish. We have been just sporting some work garments that we have been snug in. A pair of Vans or desert boots, some jeans and a t-shirt. Damon would go to the box of Fred Perry t-shirts in the nook of the dressing room, and decide one out and put it on. I don’t know if we modified our look that a lot, did we?

Properly, undoubtedly there was a transition from a mod aesthetic during Britpop, to more of an American slacker look in the late ’90s, inspired by the likes of Beck, Pavement and Sonic Youth.

I suppose that was simply because of what was around clothes-wise. I feel Damon was sporting Maharishi trousers rather a lot, and I used to be beginning to wear Stussy stuff cos I was skateboarding around. However I don’t assume Alex and Dave modified an awful lot. I mean, Alex by no means actually gave much of a shit about garments. Dave would put on a Fred Perry, denims and a pair of DMs. I suppose Damon and I shifted round a bit, however I’ve all the time been denims and a stripy t-shirt. I assume I might wear Grand Royal and Stussy t-shirts just a little bit, and skate footwear. Not very stylish. It wasn’t really reinvention, I suppose we mechanically adjusted once we noticed what Damon was sporting.
